Where do squirrels go in the winter?

';I'm Bored'; has the right answer. Squirrels do not hibernate during the winter, and can be seen outside hopping through the snow or burrowing for food.

However, they spend most of their time in their nests during wintertime in order to conserve heat energy. Since food is scarce during winter months, they can't afford to burn off any more calories than necessary as heat.Where do squirrels go in the winter?
They stick around -- I see them hopping across the snow all the time. They build up their fat stores in the fall, and also burrow food in holes to get them through the winter.Where do squirrels go in the winter?
Bahama?
They hibernate (sleep) underground or in trees I think.
They hibernate. That is, they simply sleep through it. Great strategy, if you can get away with it. Find a snug nest you can keep warm with body heat, at least as much as you need, and sleep through the tough times. Only problem is, that tree or whatever has to stay there, undisturbed by others, until Spring, for this to work well. There was a time when a self-respecting squirrel could count on that, and nod off untroubled by dreams. But with chain saws making such a racket . . .
Squirrels don't go anywhere. They have their nests built high in the fork of a tree. During the summer they store nuts in the ground and like humans, they spend extra time in their cozy beds in the winter months. They curl up together, wrap their tails around their faces for warmth and come down to dig up their winter store of food.
IN SIDE THE TREE THEY HAVE A NEST IN THE TREE IN THE WINTER
They really do not go anywhere. You can see them bouncing in the snow, they burrow into hollow trees, garages, basements, people's attics. Any place where they can find shelter. They are closely related to the rabbit, which are rodents, they grow extra hair to help keep warm. They breed in the early spring so their offspring are mature by the time winter arrives. I hope this answers your question.
Nowhere!
they dun hibernate so its the usual habitat, borrow holled tress or underground borrows
the opposite place they go in the summer.

Have a nice day!
